Licensed armed and unarmed officers for East End warehouses, construction sites, vacant buildings, shopping centers and offices. Same-day starts and no long-term contract.

What East End Properties Need From a Security Guard

The East End District covers 16 square miles east of downtown Houston. Its edges are Clinton Drive on the north, Loop 610 on the east, Telephone Road and I-45 on the south, and the Houston Belt & Terminal rail line and US 59 on the west. City of Houston data puts all of Magnolia Park, Pecan Park and Lawndale/Wayside inside it, along with nearly all of the Second Ward, most of Eastwood and parts of Harrisburg/Manchester and Denver Harbor/Port Houston.

The city’s neighborhood profiles place Magnolia Park on the Ship Channel south of the Turning Basin and describe the Clinton Drive side of Denver Harbor/Port Houston as industrial. Warehouses and rail lines share blocks with homes and storefronts, so an East End post often has to handle truck traffic at the gate and neighbors on the sidewalk in the same shift.

Reliable Guard & Patrol Service Inc. holds Texas DPS company license B07315701, which you can look up in the state’s TOPS license search. Our 150 officers work more than 100 sites in Greater Houston, and our owner has 20 years in the security business. We work commercial property only: construction sites, warehouses, shopping centers, stores, offices and vacant buildings.

Every officer we place works a dedicated post. They stay on your property for the full shift, hold a fixed point or patrol on foot or by vehicle, and log each round in a GPS guard tour system. Read how fixed posts, on-site rovers and patrol routes differ.

East End Sites We Guard

Warehouses and distribution sites

Warehouses and loading docks sit along the East End’s rail lines and in the industrial blocks near the Ship Channel. Officers monitor loading docks, verify shipments and deliveries, control employee and visitor access and patrol inventory areas. Texas had 20% of reported US cargo thefts in 2025, second only to California, according to Overhaul data reported by FreightWaves. See our warehouse security guard service.

Construction sites

Infill job sites here sit close to occupied homes and businesses. Officers patrol the site, watch equipment and materials, control the gate, verify workers and deliveries and document suspicious activity, including overnight when the site is empty. See our construction site security guard service.

Vacant buildings

Commercial and industrial buildings that sit empty while they wait on a sale or a renovation draw squatters, copper thieves, vandals and illegal dumping. Officers check doors and windows on every round, watch for entry, document the building’s condition and report maintenance or safety problems to you.

Shopping centers and stores

Strip centers and stores on corridors such as Harrisburg Boulevard and Telephone Road need a visible officer during busy hours. Officers watch customer activity, support your loss prevention, observe suspicious behavior and respond to disturbances. See our shopping center security service.

Offices and occupied buildings

Officers control access points, verify visitors, patrol the building and file a report for every incident. See our building security guard services.

Same-Day Starts for East End Sites

In most cases an officer can be on post the same day, with proof of insurance sent the same day. Terms run weekly, month-to-month or longer.

What Every East End Post Includes

Licensed officers, screened before they start

Unarmed officers complete the state’s Level II course and hold a non-commissioned registration. Armed officers complete the Level III course, which runs at least 45 hours and includes a firearms qualification, and hold a security officer commission under Texas DPS training rules. Before anyone starts with us, we run a background check and a drug test, verify the state license, check references and interview them.

Requalification every 2 years

A Texas security officer commission runs up to 2 years. Our armed officers retake firearm proficiency and requalification training before each renewal, and our unarmed officers keep their Level II training current. More on armed security guard training requirements in Texas.

GPS-logged rounds and real-time reports

Officers log every round on a GPS guard tour system, so each one is time-stamped. Incidents are reported in real time, supervisors check in during the shift, and every account has a dedicated account supervisor.

English and Spanish

We have officers who speak English and Spanish, so gate instructions, crew questions and conversations with neighbors happen in the language people use.

Insurance and contract terms

We carry general liability, workers’ compensation and commercial auto coverage and send proof of insurance the same day. Contracts can run weekly, month-to-month, short-term or long-term, and we don’t require a long-term commitment. More on security guard insurance requirements in Texas.

Common Problems at East End Properties

  • Losses at the loading dock: the officer monitors the docks, verifies shipments and deliveries and checks the dock doors after the last shift leaves.
  • Material and copper theft on job sites: rounds of the fence line, storage containers and equipment, each one logged on the guard tour system.
  • Break-ins and squatters at vacant buildings: door and window checks on every round, with the building’s condition documented.
  • Illegal dumping: the officer documents dumping on your lot or behind your building and reports it to you.
  • Shoplifting and disturbances at strip centers: a visible officer during busy hours who observes, reports and responds.
  • Trespassers after hours: the officer asks them to leave under the owner’s authority and calls HPD if they refuse.
  • Unknown visitors at the gate: the officer verifies workers, visitors and deliveries before they enter.

From our incident logs

Copper wire theft stopped at a construction site. On a 3:30 a.m. round, an officer found a storage container that had been tampered with and a man pulling rolls of copper wire out of it. The officer called police, kept watch from a safe distance and updated dispatch until officers arrived. The man dropped the wire and ran, and police caught him. The wire went back to the site manager.

Unauthorized entry stopped at a distribution warehouse. At 11:20 p.m., an officer on a perimeter round found an unauthorized vehicle at the loading docks and a person trying to get into a secured storage area. The officer called dispatch and the site supervisor, identified himself and told the person to leave, which he did. Police were notified, and a follow-up check found no forced entry, no damage and no missing inventory.

East End Coverage and Local Resources

This page covers the East End District as a whole. The Second Ward sits inside the district’s west end, and our Second Ward security guard page goes deeper on Navigation Boulevard and the blocks around Guadalupe Plaza Park. East Downtown, between the East End and downtown, has its own EaDo security guard page.

2 public resources to use before an officer starts:

  • The East End District’s public safety page says business owners can request a site visit from HPD or the Harris County Precinct 6 Constable’s Office to evaluate their property. Send us their notes and we’ll use them to set up your post.
  • Report dark streetlights to CenterPoint with the 6-digit number on the street side of the pole. The person reporting pays nothing for the repair, and a lit perimeter makes every round more useful.

Frequently Asked Questions About East End Security

How much does a security guard cost in the East End?

The rate depends on the officer type, armed or unarmed, and the weekly hours. You get a written proposal with the officer type, hours and hourly rate before you sign anything. Our guide to security guard cost in Houston explains how rates are built.

Do I need an armed or an unarmed officer?

Unarmed officers fit access control, visitor checks and visible deterrence at warehouses, job sites, stores and offices. Armed officers fit cash handling, high-value assets, sensitive facilities and sites with a history of violent incidents. Compare armed security guards with unarmed security guards.

How fast can an officer start?

The same day in most cases, and proof of insurance goes out the same day.

Do you require a long-term contract?

No. Terms can run weekly, month-to-month, short-term or long-term.

What can a security officer legally do in Texas?

Officers act under the property owner’s authority: they control access, ask trespassers to leave, document incidents and call police. Under Article 14.01 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, any person may arrest without a warrant for a felony or an offense against the public peace committed in their presence or view. Security officers are not peace officers. More in our guide to security guard use of force in Texas.

Do you cover homes, HOAs or events?

No. We work commercial property only, and we don’t offer K-9 teams, alarm response, parking enforcement or fire watch.

Do you run random drive-by patrols?

No. Officers work a dedicated post at your site and log each round on a GPS guard tour system.
