Security Guards for Tomball Commercial Sites
Reliable Guard & Patrol Service puts Texas-licensed security officers on commercial property in Tomball’s 77375 and 77377 ZIP codes. Our team has 20 years of security experience, our 150 officers cover more than 100 sites, and our Houston office at 7324 Southwest Freeway operates 24/7. Depending on the site, officers hold a fixed post or patrol on foot or by vehicle.
In Tomball, retail runs along SH 249 (Tomball Parkway), the main north-south route, with a large retail development at the Grand Parkway (SH 99) interchange. FM 2920, the main east-west route, runs through town as Main Street. Light-industrial and office-warehouse buildings sit along Hufsmith-Kohrville Road, including the 99.5-acre Tomball Business & Technology Park at Holderrieth Road. Here is what our officers do at each type of site.
Construction Sites
Officers patrol the job site, control the gate, verify workers and deliveries, and watch equipment and materials after crews leave. The risks we are hired for: equipment and material theft, copper theft, trespassing, vandalism, after-hours access and project delays. See how we run construction site security.
Warehouses and Light-Industrial Buildings
At warehouses and office-warehouses, officers monitor loading docks, verify shipments and deliveries, control employee and visitor access, and patrol inventory areas. That covers inventory and cargo theft, employee theft, loading dock losses and unauthorized access. More on warehouse security.
Shopping Centers and Stores
Retail officers provide a visible deterrent, watch for shoplifting and organized retail crime, assist with loss prevention, and respond to disturbances and customer disputes. More on shopping center security.
Offices and Commercial Buildings
Officers monitor access points, verify visitors, patrol the building and grounds, and report anything out of place. More on building security.
Vacant Buildings
A building waiting on a sale, lease or renovation draws squatters, copper thieves, vandals and illegal dumping. Officers run routine patrols, check doors and windows, document the property’s condition and report maintenance or safety problems to the owner.
How We Set Up Your Tomball Post
From the first call to the first shift, this is the process.
- First call. Call (713) 783-1344 or use the form on this page. Tell us the site address, the hours you need covered and what has been happening at the property. We respond the same day.
- Free proposal. The proposal sets the officer type (armed or unarmed), a fixed post or a patrol on foot or by vehicle, the hours and the contract term. For some sites we assess the property in person before officers start. If you are deciding between a fixed post and a roving officer, read how static and roving guards compare.
- Proof of insurance the same day. We carry general liability, workers’ compensation and commercial auto coverage, and we send proof of insurance the same day you ask.
- Vetted officers. Every officer has passed a background check, drug test, license verification, interview and reference check. Most of our officers work full-time 40-hour weeks, and we have English- and Spanish-speaking officers.
- Documented rounds. We use a GPS guard tour system, and patrol rounds are documented. Incident reports reach you in real time.
- A supervisor on your account. Each account has a dedicated supervisor who runs check-ins on your post.
Armed or Unarmed: What Texas Allows
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) licenses security officers at several levels. For most commercial sites, the choice comes down to 2 of them.
Non-commissioned officer (unarmed). Completes the state’s Level II training course and test. Patrols the property, monitors access points, verifies visitors, observes and reports suspicious activity, and responds to incidents. Texas law prohibits non-commissioned officers from carrying a firearm while on duty. More on our unarmed security guards.
Commissioned officer (armed). Completes the Level III training course (45 hours minimum) and test, and demonstrates firearm proficiency. Among security officers, only commissioned officers may carry a firearm on duty. Our armed officers requalify every 2 years. Armed officers fit high-risk locations, cash handling and sensitive facilities. More on our armed security guards.
Neither is a police officer. Texas law lets any person, including a security officer, arrest without a warrant for a felony or an offense against the public peace committed in their presence or view (Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 14.01). For theft, a person who reasonably believes another has stolen or is attempting to steal property may detain that person in a reasonable manner and for a reasonable time to investigate ownership of the property (Civil Practice and Remedies Code, Section 124.001). In practice, our officers deter, document and call law enforcement. In the reports below, the suspects left or were apprehended by responding officers. This is general information, not legal advice.

From Our Officers' Incident Reports
These 4 incident reports come from sites in our Greater Houston service area. Client names and locations are not included.
Construction Site: Materials Theft Stopped
At about 11:40 p.m., the officer saw 2 people carrying construction materials toward the perimeter fence in a poorly lit part of the site. The officer lit the area with a spotlight and called out to them. They dropped the materials and ran. The officer secured the area and notified police and site management. An inventory check confirmed all materials were still on site.
Construction Site: Copper Wire Recovered
On a scheduled patrol at about 3:30 a.m., the officer found a temporary storage container that had been tampered with and a person trying to remove rolls of copper wire. The officer called law enforcement, kept watch from a safe distance and updated dispatch. When police arrived, the suspect dropped the wire and tried to run but was apprehended by responding officers. The wire went back to site management.
Vacant Commercial Building: Break-In Stopped
At about 1:45 a.m., near the rear entrance, the officer saw 2 people trying to force open a boarded window. The officer notified dispatch and police, watched from a safe distance and turned on the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights. The 2 fled before getting inside. Police searched the area and documented the incident. The window covering had minor damage and nothing was taken. The officer secured the area and notified the owner.
Distribution Warehouse: Dock Intrusion Turned Away
At about 11:20 p.m., on a perimeter patrol, the officer found an unauthorized vehicle near the loading docks after hours and a person trying to get into a secured storage area next to the dock doors. The officer called dispatch and notified the site supervisor, then approached, identified himself and told the person to leave. The person left without incident. Law enforcement was advised and a report was documented for the record. A follow-up check found no forced entry, damage or missing inventory, and every dock door, gate and access point was secure.
Frequently Asked Questions About Security Guards in Tomball, TX
How fast can you start security at my Tomball site?
Call (713) 783-1344 and we respond the same day. We send a free proposal, and for some sites we assess the property in person before officers start. We can send proof of insurance the same day you ask.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. You choose the term: weekly, month-to-month, short-term or long-term.
What does a security guard cost in Tomball?
Price depends on coverage hours, armed or unarmed officers and the number of posts. Coverage is billed by the hour, so hours matter most: a 24/7 post runs about 730 officer-hours a month, and a 12-hour overnight post about 365. We price each site in a free proposal. For the cost factors behind a quote, read what a Houston security guard quote pays for.
Do I need an armed or an unarmed officer?
Unarmed (non-commissioned) officers handle patrol, access control and reporting. Armed (commissioned) officers add a higher level of presence for high-risk locations, cash handling and sensitive facilities. We recommend a level in your proposal based on what has happened at the site.
Do you cover sites outside Tomball city limits?
Yes. We cover Tomball’s 77375 and 77377 ZIP codes, plus Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe and other Greater Houston areas. See all service areas.
Do you provide event, residential or HOA security?
No. We work commercial sites only: construction sites, warehouses, offices and commercial buildings, shopping centers, stores and vacant buildings. We also don’t offer K-9 units, alarm response, parking enforcement or fire watch.
