Security Guards for Sixth Ward Job Sites and Businesses

Sixth Ward includes the Old Sixth Ward, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and named Houston’s first Protected Historic District in 2007. We cover the ward’s commercial properties: builders’ construction sites, office and commercial buildings along Washington Avenue, stores, and vacant buildings. We don’t cover homes, HOAs, or events.

Unarmed officers patrol the property, watch access points, verify visitors, report suspicious activity, respond to incidents, and write reports. Armed officers do the same work with a stronger presence for high-risk locations, cash handling, and sensitive facilities. Our armed officers requalify on firearms every 2 years.

Officers patrol on foot or by vehicle, depending on the site. Every round is documented: officers scan GPS checkpoints, file incident reports in real time, and check in with a supervisor during each shift.

Every client gets a dedicated account supervisor. Our office at 7324 Southwest Freeway runs 24/7, and English- and Spanish-speaking officers are available.

Who Guards Your Site: Licensing and Screening

Reliable Guard & Patrol Service has held Texas DPS license B07315701 since 2018, and our owner has 20 years in the security industry. We carry general liability, workers’ compensation, and commercial auto insurance, and we can send a certificate of insurance the same day you ask.

Before an officer works a post, we run a background check and a drug test, verify the officer’s Texas license, check references, and interview the candidate against our hiring standards.

Our 150 officers, full-time 40-hour staff plus part-time officers, cover more than 100 sites. Our Google Business Profile shows a 5.0 rating from 144 reviews as of October 2026.

Contracts can run weekly, month-to-month, short-term, or long-term, and we don’t require a long-term contract. You call, we send a free proposal, we assess the site in person when the property needs it, and then officers start.

From Our Incident Reports: How Officers Respond

When officers spot a threat, they make their presence known, call dispatch and police when needed, watch from a safe distance, and document the incident for the client. These 4 examples come from our officers’ reports at construction sites and a vacant building.

2:15 a.m., construction site. A pickup truck circled the site and stopped at a gate while the people inside looked over the entry points. The officer switched on the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and drove toward the gate, and the truck left. The officer logged the vehicle description and notified site management. Nothing was lost.

11:40 p.m., construction site. The officer spotted 2 people carrying construction materials toward the perimeter fence in a dark section of the site, lit them with a spotlight, and challenged them. They dropped the materials and ran. The officer notified police and site management, and an inventory check confirmed all materials stayed on site.

3:30 a.m., construction site. On a scheduled patrol, the officer found a tampered storage container and a person pulling rolls of copper wire from it. The officer called police, kept watch from a safe distance, and updated dispatch. Responding police caught the suspect, and the wire went back to site management.

1:45 a.m., vacant commercial building. The officer saw 2 people forcing a boarded window at the rear entrance, notified dispatch and police, and turned on the emergency lights. Both ran before getting inside. The window covering had minor damage, and nothing was taken.

For Sixth Ward sites, the police call goes to the Houston Police Department.

Commercial Building and Office Security

On Washington Avenue and the blocks closest to downtown, officers monitor entrances, verify visitors, and check doors and common areas on scheduled rounds.

Retail Security

A uniformed officer gives stores a visible deterrent, watches for shoplifting and suspicious behavior, supports loss prevention, and responds to disturbances.

Vacant Building Security

Officers check doors and windows, watch for entry attempts, document the property’s condition, and report maintenance or safety problems. This covers the main risks while a building sits empty: squatters, copper theft, illegal dumping, arson, and vandalism.

Sixth Ward Security Guard Questions

What don’t you cover in Sixth Ward?

We don’t take residential, HOA, or event work, and we don’t offer K-9 units, alarm response, parking enforcement, or fire watch. We cover commercial properties: construction sites, office and commercial buildings, stores and shopping centers, warehouses, and vacant buildings.

What’s the difference between armed and unarmed officers in Texas?

Unarmed officers are licensed as non-commissioned security officers and must complete Level II training. Armed officers are commissioned security officers: they complete the 45-hour Level III course and test, including a course of fire, and submit a firearms proficiency certificate when they renew. Armed officers fit high-risk locations, cash handling, and sensitive facilities.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. Contracts can run weekly, month-to-month, short-term, or long-term, based on what your site needs.

How fast can officers start?

We offer same-day response. You call, we send a free proposal, we assess the site in person when the property needs it, and then officers start.

Can you send a certificate of insurance?

Yes, the same day. We carry general liability, workers’ compensation, and commercial auto coverage.

How do you document patrols?

Officers scan GPS checkpoints on each round, file incident reports in real time, and check in with a supervisor during the shift. Your dedicated account supervisor is your contact for anything about the post.

How much does a security guard cost in Sixth Ward?

The price depends on armed or unarmed officers, the hours and days you need covered, and the number of posts. Send us those details, and we’ll price them in a free proposal.

What other areas do you cover?

Besides Sixth Ward, we cover Downtown Houston, the Medical Center, the Energy Corridor, Katy, Sugar Land, Pearland, Conroe, Spring, Humble, The Woodlands, and the rest of Houston, including the neighboring Washington Avenue and Fourth Ward areas. See every area we serve.
